The car was awarded the <strong>BEST CLASSIC CAR 2023<\/strong>, with the award presented by the Classic Car of America. The Pebble Beach Concours d&#8217;Elegance is one of the world&#8217;s most prestigious automotive events, and to receive an award there is extremely rare. At a time when the economy seemed to know no bounds, luxury cars were getting bigger and heavier, while customers demanded engines that were both quiet and smooth. To meet these demands, greater displacement was needed, and to keep the moving parts of the engines compact and light, the volume needed to be distributed over more cylinders. Cadillac therefore began developing its new sixteen-cylinder flagship model as early as 1927. By the time the car was unveiled at the New York Auto Show in January 1930 &#8211; just months after the Wall Street crash &#8211; the economic climate had changed dramatically. As a result, only 250 copies of the V16 All Weather Phaeton from Fleetwood were sold.
