Der Pebble Beach Concours d&#8217;Elegance ist eine der prestigetr\u00e4chtigsten Automobilveranstaltungen der Welt, und dort eine Auszeichnung zu erhalten, ist \u00e4u\u00dferst selten. In einer Zeit, in der die Wirtschaft keine Grenzen zu kennen schien, wurden die Luxusautos immer gr\u00f6\u00dfer und schwerer, w\u00e4hrend die Kunden Motoren verlangten, die sowohl leise als auch laufruhig waren. Um diese Anforderungen zu erf\u00fcllen, war ein gr\u00f6\u00dferer Hubraum erforderlich, und um die beweglichen Teile der Motoren kompakt und leicht zu halten, musste das Volumen auf mehr Zylinder verteilt werden. Cadillac begann daher bereits 1927 mit der Entwicklung seines neuen Sechzehnzylinder-Flaggschiffs. Als der Wagen im Januar 1930 &#8211; nur wenige Monate nach dem Wall Street Crash &#8211; auf der New York Auto Show vorgestellt wurde, hatte sich das wirtschaftliche Klima dramatisch ver\u00e4ndert. Infolgedessen wurden nur 250 Exemplare des V16 All Weather Phaeton von Fleetwood verkauft.
